PURPOSE : Why are we doing Flipgrid introductions in this course?
We strive to cultivate a meaningful sense of community and engagement in the class. By getting to know others via Flipgrid discussions, we can more comfortably ask questions, seek help, and feel a sense of connection in this course. Since we are using Flipgrid for future Deep-Dive Discussions, introductions also help us get comfortable with using Flipgrid.
How do I access Flipgrid?
We will be using Flipgrid for introductions and for critical thinking discussions in this course. Watch this brief video to learn more about how to get started with Flipgrid.

Carefully read the instructions for each Flipgrid discussion in this course before posting your work.
You may interact with Flipgrid for this class via a web browser or via the Flipgrid smartphone or tablet application. Most students report that things go smoothest when they post their Flipgrid videos and comments from a web browser.
What do I need to include in my introduction on Flipgrid?
To earn full credit for this required START HERE assignment, your introductions should include meaningful responses to all of these questions/tasks:
- Your Name and Personal Pronouns: What is your preferred name? What are your personal pronouns?
- Your Program*: What is your program at UTK? What's your current status in the program and why did you choose this program?
*If you are undecided, share some of your possible program options and what factors you are considering as you think about programs. If you are not a UTK student, please share the college you attend and your program at that college.
- Your Career Goal: What job do you hope to land after you graduate? Where do you hope that job ultimately takes you and why?
- This Class: Why are you taking this class and what do you most hope to learn? How is this class relevant to your career goals? What prior education, work, and life experiences do you have that might benefit you (and other learners) in this class and why?
- Unique You: What are some things about you that you are proud of? For example, what are your strengths, talents, or special accomplishments and achievements so far.

CRITERIA: How will my introduction be graded?
Your introduction on the Say Hello via Flipgrid introductions will be evaluated using the Canvas rubric posted with this assignment. Review the rubric carefully before beginning this assignment.
Good news! You can retry your initial introduction as many times as you want before you share. Do your best and have fun with this first Flipgrid.
