Canvas Rubrics
For a great overview of the process of using Canvas Rubrics, check out the Canvas Help Guide on creating assignment rubrics (not to be confused with Course rubrics): https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26472-how-do-i-add-a-rubric-to-an-assignment Links to an external site. 1. First, go to the assignment that you wish to add grading criteria and find the "+Rubric" button near the bottom of the page.
2. If you have a rubric already created or if you wanted to search for one shared by someone else to the commons, you can search for an existing rubric. Mostly likely, you will want to create one yourself.
3. Canvas provides a rubric structure with some basics - criteria and range/scale - and allows you to edit and rename, add criteria and additional scale, and edit all the details.
4. After you are finished, make sure that you spend time explaining the rubric to help your students understand what the criteria mean and how you will be assessing their work.
