Using The Resources
Welcome to the Teaching and Learning Center's
Professional Development course!
Whether you teach online or on-ground, this online professional development resource is designed to support all faculty with on-demand training on a variety of topics.
The repository is designed around the five SCC Faculty Core Practices, and you can learn more about the practices in the next section:
- Learning-Centered Teaching Practices
- Assessment of Student Learning and Performance
- Holistic Student Support
- Inclusive Classroom Climate
- Continuous Professional Development
This Canvas course is built using the five modules as umbrella topics, with sub-group topics under each on. The information is designed to promote promising practices around teaching and learning, as well as overall student success. Additionally, you are invited to join the live (in-person in 1-G210) or Zoom events scheduled each week. Look for the current schedule in the Monday TLC email, or contact me directly for more information.
The resources are always growing, and I hope that you will check back as more information is available. If you see a gap in programming or online course coverage, let me know! I am happy to build additional information that is useful for faculty.
Again, if you are looking for resources around connected topics, like support for instructors new to teaching or for Canvas and instructional technology information, there are additional resources available. You can self enroll in either of these two Canvas courses with the links below:
- eLearning Faculty Development - with long list of great modules on a wide range of Canvas and tech teaching topics
- New Faculty Online Course - with information about course building and design
