You are interning at a fitness center and currently shadowing a senior level personal trainer, Leila. She has a new client coming in and it is your job to help assist her in assessing whether the client can begin an exercise program. She explains that without these assessments in the clients records, it opens up the fitness center to litigation, but she also uses the information throughout the process to help her design a program that is right for the client. You find a quiet space at the front desk to talk through your approach for when you meet with the client.
What will I be learning?
This week we will introduce you to how fitness professionals construct a client fitness plan based on research-based assessments and guidelines.
These are the concepts and topics we will cover:
- How to identify important client values when conducting a fitness consultation
- How to compare a client's health information to national standards for exercise readiness and risk stratification
- How to identify appropriate fitness assessments based on a client/patients goals and exercise readiness
- How to use collected data from a client interview, available health information, and fitness assessments to inform health and fitness recommendations
