Read:

Being a citizen means...

  • being active in the community

Examples of citizenship are...

  • helping at a school
  • joining a community group
  • raising money for a charity
  • writing to a newspaper (letter to the editor)
  • participating in a local religious group (church, temple, or mosque)
  • helping at a political campaign
  • taking part in marches or rallies
  • attending a city council meeting
  • raising concerns for your community
  • voting
  • paying taxes
  • many, many more!

Why should you participate?

  • YOU have important ideas.
  • YOU are best at representing needs and concerns of other immigrants.
  • YOU will meet new people.
  • YOU will learn new skills and have fun.
  • YOUR voice needs to be heard so America is great for everyone.
