Read:

Math is everywhere, even in history.  We can learn a lot about people with math.  We can learn a lot about history with math.

For example, math can help us answer questions like these:

  • What was the average age of immigrants?
  • What was the average number of immigrants that came with families?
  • What was the average age in Native American tribes?

An average is a the middle value of a group of numbers.  Another word for average is mean. To get the average, add up all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are.
