Be able to compare and contrast the form, function, and content of works of art from different periods or cultures.
Demonstrate this skill by completing the discussion for the week. We will examine two separate works of art with similar subject matter and write a comparison. The design principles will be the focus of your discussion. Please use terminology you find in the reading materials to describe the work.
You will again be asked to develop and employ methods for analyzing visual art forms and interpreting their meaning. Use these terms when approaching and critiquing a new work of art. The visual/artistic elements and design principles are considered formal elements. This is considered the beginning of a formalistic critique and covers the first level of meaning. The first level of meaning is form.
Lastly, this week you will be finishing the photography assignment. Include visual/artistic elements and the design principle of visual balance into your work.
