American Decades - a cross-disciplinary source for those who need a single, consistent reference to document and analyze periods of contemporary American social history. Ten volumes cover the decades of the twentieth century
Biography and Genealogy Master Index - indexes any print product that includes biographical information on multiple persons. It also acts as an index to other indexes
Biography in Context - delivers outstanding research support with nearly a million biographical entries spanning history and geography
CultureGrams - fact sheets on countries and states
Dictionary of American History - this authoritative work serves students, scholars, and general readers interested in a wide range of topics in American history, from the well studied and familiar to the obscure
eLibrary - an easy-to-search magazine and newspaper database for students which includes images, audiovisual materials, and television news transcripts
Facts on File World News Digest - news reports on current events, country profiles, and discussion of controversial topics
Gale Virtual Reference Library - full-text encyclopedias and other reference sources in a number of subject areas [I don’t know which subjects the Spokane Library has chosen but this series does include some music titles]
General OneFile - a one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics. Millions of full-text articles many with images. Updated daily. [a good general purpose database]
Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia - a comprehensive, illustrated encyclopedia of all types of animal life
Literature Resource Center - in-depth information on the lives and writings of nearly 125,000 authors along with critical reaction to their works from Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism Select (CLC Select) and Dictionary of Literary Biography (DLB) [This includes some artists and musicians]
NetLibrary eAudiobooks - audiobooks that you can download directly to your personal computer or portable listening device from the Library’s collection
NetLibrary eBooks - books that you can download to a device that supports Adobe Digital Editions
ProQuest Direct - use this general interest database to search magazines and newspapers for information on current events, education, the arts and social sciences, etc. This database includes Washington State Newsstand which has the full text of articles from the Spokesman Review since 1995 plus articles from other Washington newspapers
