Resources for Researching the Power Point Presentation

Suggested Sources and Researching the Power Point Presentation

Now that you have read through the requirements and criteria for the presentation, it is time to develop a strategy for researching your presentation.

You will need to research the following topics as they pertain to your artist or band:

  1. Background and biographical material for your artist. Most of this you can do by simply researching your artist on the internet. Also, as you browse the links below, you will find plenty of sources that provide biographical information for specific artists, depending on genre.
  2. The artist's musical influences. Again,
  3. The artist's genre and style of musical performance.
  4. Audience (age, gender, social group, shared ideologies). What message does the music communicate? Think in general terms about the genre and then think more specifically about the individual artist or band.

With the help of a few talented librarians, I have assembled below for you a number of resources that you can go to in order to develop the topics listed above. All of these sources have been selected specifically with the Power Point Presentation in mind. However, it is still your job to sift through these to find exactly what you need.

If you run into problems or if you get overwhelmed, then it is time to seek help from one of our excellent reference librarians. Some of them are already familiar with the nature of your assignment and will be more than happy to help you with the particular artist that you have chosen.
