Grading for The Power Point Presentation

A presentation that earns the full 100 points will have the following traits:

  • Avoid choosing a pop artist, like a Lady Gaga or a Taylor Swift. If you have only listened to pop in the past, take this opportunity to explore an artist who is new to you outside the pop genre.
  • Excellent depth, plenty of specific examples, insight, and RELEVANT detail added in appropriate places.
  • Well organized
  • A sense that instructions were followed and that all the topics mentioned above were adequately covered.
  • Attractive and readable format
  • A sense that you got something out of the assignment, which you find useful.
  • Well written (four or less grammatical errors)
  • Utilized ways to make the presentation stand out as interesting and informative in a relevant way.

I will provide you with a grade and a slide-by-slide commentary of what I liked and disliked about each slide. I will not grade each slide individually. Instead, I will most likely grade the presentation as a whole based on my overall impression and on the points I mention above.

Yes, and Have Fun Too!

Overall, I hope you have fun with this assignment, though I am aware of the challenges that might make it at times frustrating and difficult. Feel free to shoot me an email asking specific questions about how to handle a particular detail or two in your presentation. That's what I'm here for. Also, keep in mind who your reader is. That's me, folks. I've read hundreds of these. I'm not sure I look forward to reading another Bob Marley presentation, unless you take an interesting angle. Go ahead with the artist, but choose a subtheme that is interesting and different; that is, something about him that might stand out, if it happens to be a very popular artist. Keep the writing formal with good grammar and spelling. Do not use bullets in the slides. Use a format in Powerpoint that is not too busy or blurs the text. Lastly, congratulations for having finally gotten to the end of all the detailed instructions. I hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK! Procrastinators beware.
