The Power of Music to Heal
The use of music for healing can be found in almost every culture, both modern and old, throughout the ages. Death and disease sometimes go beyond our ability to understand or explain. Since music has the power to take people out of the mundane and sometimes put them in touch with the spiritual, many cultures utilize music for the purpose of healing. Even in the west, a rational and scientifically informed culture, the interest in music and its healing affects is growing steadily not only in the new age movement but also in academia, therapy programs and hospitals as well. The following article offers one example of drumming and its curative affects.
