Degree and Certificate Program Requirements

Need to know what classes will count towards your degree? This is the page for you!

SCC and SFCC

You should always consult an Advisor about degree requirements. In a pinch, you can look up requirements for yourself. Here's how:

This is the online Catalog page that lists all CCS Programs: http://catalog.spokane.edu/CoursesAndPrograms/Default.aspx Links to an external site.

To see your required courses, click on the hyperlinked program name and it takes you to the program webpages for that degree/certificate OR to the AA DTA worksheet for some of the transfer degrees.

For most AAS/AAS-T and Certificate programs, there is an automated listing with the recommended order you should take your classes. Generally you can take classes out of order if necessary as long as they are listed somewhere in the list of requirements and do not have pre-requisite requirements that haven't been met. This is helpful to know for a lot of the programs that can be completed either online or on campus, since online classes are not always offered in the recommended order.

AA DTA degrees with worksheets are slightly different. They list Distribution areas with the various rules that apply to each area to meet the requirement.

a screencap of the AA DTA Worksheet with arrows pointing at various points of interest: Writing Intensive and Diversity course requirements rule, caveat that you can only count a course in one distribution area even if it is listed under more than one area, and a couple of small arrows pointing out where to find the rules under the specific distribution area they apply to.

Note:

  • Diversity/Writing Intensive courses must be included within your 90 credits, they can be accomplished while meeting distribution area requirements (i.e. FILM 224 will include a Diversity and/or Writing Intensive indication within the course description and will meet Humanities Distribution area requirements)
  • You can only double dip with Diversity/Writing Intensive requirements. You may not be able to satisfy to different areas with a singular class (i.e. you can't count MATH& 107 under both the Quantitative/Symbolic Reasoning Area and under the Mathematics/Science Area)
  • the specific rules for a Distribution Area will appear in bullet points directly under the Area title
