Residency
Determining your residency status is an important part of your application process because it allows us to calculate your tuition and fees correctly, as well as get prepared for specific grants and loans as part of your financial aid process.
In-State Status
You must be either:
- Financially independent and have lived in Washington State for purposes other than education for 12 months prior to the start of your first quarter.
- Financially dependent and either one or both parents have lived in Washington State for 12 months prior to the start of your first quarter.
Out-of-State Status
All other students, other than Global Education students, are classified as non-resident students and will qualify for the non-resident status.
If You Think Your Residency Status Is Incorrect
Complete one of the two documents below and submit them to our Admissions Office or contact us at 509-533-7014 or scc.residency@scc.spokane.edu with any questions.
- Washington State Higher Education Residency Affidavit Links to an external site. - Complete this form if you earned your high school diploma or GED and lived in Washington for at least 12 consecutive months before your first term at SCC.
- Residence Questionnaire Links to an external site. - Complete this form if you do not meet the requirements for the Washington State Higher Education Residency Affidavit.
