Process for Articulating Current CDA Certification into the SFCC ECED Program

In an effort to recognize individuals who have completed a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) through the Council for Professional Recognition and who are seeking pathways into Spokane Falls Community College Early Childhood Education Program, the program will award up to 10 college credits for candidates who:

Apply for Admission at Spokane Falls Community College
Obtain student ID number.

Note: Current students will skip steps 1 & 2

Review Prior Learning Assessment Information.

Note: You must have completed 10 credits from SFCC before ACPL credits can be posted to your transcript.

Obtain the Application for Academic Credit for Prior Learning (ACPL) Form.
Complete this section of the form exactly as follows:

image.pngEnter ECED& 100, ECED& 107, and ECED& 120 for the Report of Prior Learning Credit Award section

Sign the ACPL form.
Pay SFCC Cashier the “fees due” (take the completed PLA form with you).
Scan and e-mail to ECED Faculty LeighAnna Drake (LeighAnna.Drake@sfcc.spokane.edu) the following:
- copy of your current CDA certification
- completed PLA form
- copy of the receipt for payment from the cashier’s office.

LeighAnna will review, complete, and forward the documents listed above to the Department Chair and Dean for review and approval.
This process may take approximately 2-4 weeks.
