What is a waitlist and how does it work?

If a student tries to enroll in a full class, they can be added to the waitlist.

At SFCC, a waitlist allows students to join a queue for a college course that has reached its enrollment limit. The queue operates on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning students are placed in the order in which they join the waitlist.

When a registered student drops the course—or fails to pay their tuition bill and is dropped for nonpayment—the first eligible student in the queue is automatically registered. Students should regularly check their schedules and school email for updates and ensure they do not have holds, prerequisite issues, or scheduling conflicts that could prevent registration. Joining the waitlist gives you a chance to enroll, but it does not guarantee a seat will become available.
