Presence in Online Learning
Research indicates that student success improves when students feel a connection to their instructors and classmates. Online instructors need to be intentional when designing their courses to create a sense of presence in the student experience.
A well-known and researched model of presence in the classroom is the Community of Inquiry (COI) which looks at the learning experience through the intersection of Social, Teaching, and Cognitive Presence.
This module's goal is to introduce to you the theory of online presence, discuss its importance, and learn how to design it in your class.
