Google Docs as Module Items
Another way to share a Google Doc into your Canvas course is by placing it in as an External URL in the module. You could embed it with the code like I just did with the slides, but using an external URL in the module is even easier.
From your Doc (or slides, sheets, or any other file in your drive) get the Shareable Link that was shown to you earlier and set your permissions as desired.
In your Canvas module view, Click the plus button to add a new item. Select "External URL" and paste the link. In the video earlier you saw what happens if you click the "load in new tab" box, but if you don't click the box Canvas will embed the document directly in a page for your students to read without leaving the flow of the module. Click "add item."
Here you can see the Syllabus template being shown in a Canvas page. The great thing about sharing documents with your students this way is the ease with which you can update the document. You make the change to the original document in your drive, and all the locations the document is shared to will also reflect the change. Again, no worrying about versions or students getting confused with old copies of your syllabus or assignment instructions.
