About "Developing Leadership Through Discussion Boards"

If you are interested in using discussion forums for more than simply having students read and write responses, please come to this session.

Agenda

1. Introduction

2. Discussions should be conversations
--5 posts per week / 2-3 paragraphs / rubric

3. Leadership Discussion Assignment
--Setting up Groups in Canvas
--Discussing the leadership role – peer rubric for grading
--Quality of the Student work – revision/ writing intensive

4. Other Discussion Ideas
--Using pictures as discussion starters
--Current events
--Using groups for one discussion instead of all of them
--How to have “guest speakers” in a discussion forum

5. Apply one of these discussion ideas (in Canvas if possible) to an existing forum or create a new discussion forum.

 

We'd love for each of you to share unique discussion ideas as well.  There will be sharing time during the presentation so please bring your ideas!
