How do I get my books?

Step 1: Find your course and section number

To accurately find the required textbooks for your course, you will need to know the department code, course number and which section you are in.

Start by logging in to ctcLink Links to an external site. with your student ID and ctcLink password.

You will need to do this process for courses at both SFCC and SCC. If you only have classes at one campus, select the campus where your enrolled classes are offered.

Click Student Homepage

Click Manage Classes

Click View My Classes

For each course you will need the department code, course number, and section. For example, the course FRNCH& 121-01 has the department code FRNCH&, the course number is 121, and the section is 01. If you are not seeing the information you need, click the link to the right hand side of the course information to see further class details like the instructor's name.

Alternatively, you can log in to Canvas and check the titles of your courses if they are published in Canvas. Canvas course titles contain the department code, course number, and section number. Everything after the section number is not needed to find your textbooks.

Step 2: Access the bookstore website

Step 3: Find "Textbooks"

Click on “Textbooks” on the left-hand corner of the top navigation bar. Click on “Find Textbooks Links to an external site.” in the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Search your courses

Select your campus, input your term and course details, then click on “Find Materials”. You’ll see what books are required for your courses and what options you have to retrieve them (rent, buy new, buy used, etc). The webpage will also tell you if there are no books required for your course.

Note: It is very important that you use the correct section number as well as course number! Different instructors teach different sections of a course and may have greatly different requirements!
