Module Overview

Introducing "Foundations of Flex"

Welcome! This course was intended to help support instructors looking to expand the flexibility of their courses through innovative modalities. Due to the level of planning and design required to create a fully "flexed" course, the activities and resources contained within this module are constructed both as a reference material as well as initial guided steps into the design process of flex courses. As with all instructional modalities, the instructional designers are available to assist in everything from planning equivalent experiences to navigating the technology required to connect learners on-ground and online to you and your classroom.

Module Outcomes

The goal of our instructional designers is to ensure instructors feel comfortable with the following:

  • Application of active learning to improve synchronous student experience
  • Ability to manage tech in Flex (solve common tech issues)
  • Understand that all experiences must be equitable to ensure one modality isn’t favored over another
  • Elevate a strong online course to a superb Flex course
  • Designing a lesson plan for interaction between synchronous on-ground, synchronous online, and asynchronous students
  • Building community
  • Solve common design and management issues in a Flex course

By completing this module and it's three activities you are eligible for a $75 stipend and an opportunity to complete further Flex course design training
