Shi Min's Story: Conclusion
Conclusion
Narrator: "After talking with Tali and getting her insight, Shi Min reworked her course. Shi Min liked the idea of getting students out of the classroom for lecture and began providing recordings through her Canvas shell. Instead of having a physical lab packet, Shi Min created online modules in Canvas for each lab, where students would interact with a pre-lab introduction before arriving in the physical space. To save on clutter in the lab, Shi Min began projecting the lab instructions at the front of the room with handouts if students needed them, otherwise they could take notes in whatever format they preferred. Students would work through the activities, and following the lab, would have time to consolidate those notes and submit a post-lab assignment to assess if they met the objectives of the lab. With the extra material online, Shi Min decided to remove two required lectures and instead hold optional office hours virtually on Zoom during those times. With asynchronous lectures and online materials anchoring learning, Shi Min felt like she could build review time into her Friday class, creating an optional on-ground opportunity for students to ask questions."

- What tools were mentioned in the scenario? How were they used?
- What kind of tools would you need to redesign your course?
- Who do you know who can support you with these tools?
- If you were Shi Min, who's your Tali?
