Purpose:
Successfully running and designing a synchronous course takes a lot of planning. There's the technical aspect of scheduling your meeting and running it. There's also the pedagogical goal of the session. What are you hoping to achieve with your students during this time? The purpose of this assignment is to help you think about and plan for the different scenarios when hosting a live class. This activity aligns with one of our learning objectives for the module: create a mini lesson plan for running a synchronous class session
Task:
Think about your lesson plan and answer the following prompts:
- What security steps you will take to secure your meeting from naughty Zoom Bombers?
- If you had to evaluate your skills with Zoom, which areas should you refresh yourself on? Consider managing participating, scheduling meetings, recording meetings, sharing your screen, using Breakout Rooms, etc
- What's the academic goal for your students?
- In what ways will you attempt to build community amongst the group?
Criteria:
This one is fairly straightforward. You will know if you have successfully completed this activity if you have attempted to answer each prompt above. You don't need a paragraph for each question, a mere sentence can do it. If you aren't sure on a specific point, just say that and we will try to clarify in a follow up comment.
