PhET
What is PhET?
PhET is short for the PhET Interactive Simulations project at he the University of Colorado, Boulder. PhET creates free interactive math and science simulations. PhET sims are based on extensive education research and engage students through an intuitive, game-like environment where students learn through exploration and discovery.

How Does PhET Work?
Simulations are organized by subjects which include: Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Math. You can also search by grade level on the PhET site Links to an external site..
Try the Projectile Motion Sim below so that you can interact with this content. Point your mouse to the intro picture below to start the simulation.
PhET Simulations are accessible and many are HTML5 compliant. You can embed these different simulations directly into Canvas to help make your content more interactive.
PhET and Canvas
To embed simulations into Canvas, find a simulation that you would like to use and you will have two options, DOWNLOAD and EMBED. Select EMBED and chose either:
- Embed a running copy of this simulation
- Embed an image that will launch the simulation when clicked
Select HTML Editor and copy and paste the embed code into the Canvas HTML editor where you would like it to appear on your page.
Finally, compose your objective for the lesson and the instructions of how you would like the students to use the sim. Throw in an H5P Quiz to check for understanding like the one demonstrated on the H5P page of this module.
