Linking Quizzes to the Canvas Gradebook

Panopto Quizzes can be associated with an assignment and linked to your Canvas gradebook. This allows you to develop quiz questions in your Panopto video and make an assignment out of watching that video and completing quizzes. This is a great way to implement formative assessment into your online class. It also doesn't hurt to have another way to motivate your students to get through your instructional videos :)

Key Things to Remember

  • Match the total amount of points of the quiz with the amount of quiz questions
  • Consider allowing students to "retake" the quiz in the video or to allow multiple attempts on the assignment
  • If adding multiple quizzes into the gradebook, consider retooling your grading weights. Should you create a new weight for formative assessments?
  • If you'd like to use a video from a previous course for your assignment, make sure to select that specific course from the drop down menu. LaTeX: \downarrow↓
