Module 00: Getting Students Started - Module Overview
Introduction
Students who start off a quarter successfully often have much higher rate of retention for the term. Getting them started successfully, however can be a challenge. While online learning lends itself to being self-directed, often students believe it is also self-paced and for many of our disciplines and teaching styles, that just isn't a reality. Getting students to clearly understand the design of the course, their instructor, communication preferences, and resources available to them all have an impact on how well that student will start the course successfully. One of the ways to do this is with a well developed 00 Module. This module's goal is to dive into and discuss the best practices, strategies, and resources we can use to help students have a successful start to the quarter.
