Janelle already talked about some of the reasons she's excited about using instructor created video. Let's talk with a couple more CCS faculty members about how they're already using video in their courses and what value they've received from them. As you're watching notice that they talk both about added value for their students, whether it's due to added flexibility or increased instructor presence, but also added value for themselves as instructors as well.

What does the current research say?

Kaltura 2016 Study

As David and Ira discussed the value they saw in bringing video to their classes, national research has more to add. According to this report by Kaltura on the state of video in education, Download The State of Video in Education 2016 - A Kaltura Report.pdf

, video use is at its highest in history.

Some of the highlights from this report include:

  • 96% of respondents feel it is important to continue to raise the level of digital literacy in their institution, a figure that remains constant yearover-year
  • The most anticipated new development is graded quizzes inside videos, with 41% predicting the greatest impact for this technology. Video broadcast from mobile phones and videos that branch to other videos based on in-video actions are also predicted to be high impact.
  • 93% of respondents believe that video has a positive impact on student satisfaction and 88% agree that it boosts student achievement levels
